Introduction to our Constitutional revision Process

Some 10 years ago a dedicated team from First Free began to look closely at our Constitution and Bylaws, believing that some changes were needed to update these documents so that they would continue to provide direction and stability to our ministry efforts for the next season of the church.  The Constitutional revision was completed in 2002, but the revision of our Bylaws was never truly finalized.

Our Constitution has indeed served us well for this past season, but the time has come for us to review these documents once again, develop and present necessary revisions, and extend the good work that was started many years ago so that our Constitution and Bylaws may continue to be documents that are timely, directional, and valuable to our church both today and into the future.

We have waded into this project slowly over the past couple of years, but have recently begun the more formal process of meeting with a designated Constitution Revision Team.  The team has carefully reviewed our Constitution and is now in a position to present the first motions that will keep this project moving forward in a timely way.  We are very excited about the prospect of updating and clarifying our key documents and believe that these initial adjustments will get us moving in the proper direction.  We desire to be a church that can effectively work within, and be empowered by, a solid Constitution and up-to-date Bylaws.

Congregational Meeting Notice:

In order to present the two proposed Constitutional motions we will hold a brief Congregational Meeting on Sunday, October 4 (11:50 am – 12:30 pm) following our second worship service.  We will have a second Congregational meeting on November 16 (6:30 – 8:30 pm) for the purpose of prayer and a time of questions and answers related to the motions.  We will vote on the motions at our Semi-annual Congregational ministry meeting being held January 17, 2010.
